Race Details: The Mimic typically shapeshift into non-biological objects, which is incredibly useful if they can trick another unwitting being to fall for their disguise. Mimics have the ability to turn into most any object they can see, but they can't completely become biological creatures when they change, if turning into a biological creature, the mimic will instead become a mix of an object and the creature. Mimics mainly turn themselves into normal-seeming objects made of wood or stone, like treasure chests, doors, tools, and walls. Yet they maintain their own strength, will, and abilities, rather than assuming the inclinations or associations of the object. Because of this ability, they are incredibly stealthy, able to blend into their surroundings perfectly.

There are two subspecies of mimics. The Simple Mimic and The Complex Mimic. The Simple Mimic is not inherently inferior, but can only mimic one or two objects at a time as well as they are typically unable to work with other mimics, due to temperament and communication barriers. They are not dumb though, simply unwilling to see other beings as anything other than food.

The Complex Mimic is another story. These mimics often seek out other mimic’s to set up elaborate traps for prey or safety. As well as many developing a craving for social interaction. This leads them to learn language and form bonds with each other as well as other beings.

When anything touches a mimic, the mimic's adhesive skin sticks to that object or creature, and the mimic latches on. This is both a predatory response and a defensive response. The mimic may let go, but only if it actually wants to.

Mimics may be able to pull off near-flawless transformations but they always retain three very important features. Their teeth, their scent, and their pseudopods.

Every mimic is born with a gaping maw full of sharp, jagged teeth. Their teeth are hollow, like a snake, and can inject pre-digestive acids into their prey, via a deadly bite. These teeth drip these acids into their maw at a slow rate, making their drool and bodily fluids being slightly acidic. This, in turn, leads to their oddly sweet acidic smell, it is normally sickly sweet, and when threatened they mimic can expel a mist from its mouth that knocks any who inhale it unconscious. Let us not forget, of course, that mimics can flop out their pseudopod, which also acts as their tongue, and that pseudopod can excrete a sticky, adhesive version of this that can temporarily act as a sort of glue. They often use their pseudopods to strike out at and latch onto prey, much like a frog. More social mimics have utilized their pseudopods for more messy forms of affection and bonding since this modified acid causes a sort of calming intoxication to others when exposed to higher amounts of it.
